History Made: St. Mary’s Girls Tennis Wins First-Ever OSAA State Championship

For the first time in school history, the St. Mary’s Girls Tennis team are OSAA State Champions! In the 75 years since the founding of the OSAA, no girls team from St. Mary’s had ever captured the state title—until now. With talent, tenacity, and total team unity, the 2025 squad etched their names into the record books.

More Than Just Points

Some team members humbly claimed they "didn’t really do anything." But in the world of team sports, simply showing up for one another—cheering from the sidelines, lifting spirits, and sharing the highs and lows—is the heart of championship culture. Every player contributed. Every presence mattered. This title belongs to all of you.

Doubles State Finalists – Sydney Holdermann & Alison Olson

Sydney and Alison delivered one of the most electric performances in the tournament, reaching the State Finals with signature grit and fire. In the semis, they came back from a first-set deficit to win in a third-set tiebreaker against rival OES—a showdown that kept fans on the edge of their seats. In the finals, they once again battled from behind, taking the second set and forcing another third-set thriller. Surrounded by nearly 100 spectators, the duo rose to the occasion and left it all on the court. State Runners-Up and fearless competitors.

4th Place Singles – Carys Chamberland

Carys Chamberland fought through what may go down as the longest quarterfinal match in OSAA Girls Tennis history, a testament to her relentless baseline play and mental toughness. With powerful rallies and steady composure, she advanced to the semi-finals and ultimately secured a 4th place finish in the state—an extraordinary achievement in one of the toughest singles brackets.

Singles Quarterfinalist – Piper Ravassipour

Piper Ravassipour came into the tournament in peak form, crushing the first two rounds with commanding baseline play and consistent execution. In the quarterfinals, she faced the top player in the state and rose to the challenge with intensity, grace, and resolve. Her focus and effort were a powerful example of what it means to compete with heart, regardless of outcome.

Consolation Semifinalist – Adalie Ford

Adalie Ford brought confidence and aggressive play to her first-round match, showcasing movement, shot power, and competitive spirit. After a tough opening round, she rebounded in the consolation bracket with a bye and then captured her first state tournament victory, advancing to the consolation semifinals. A strong and meaningful run for a rising player.

Doubles Main Draw – Aleeza Jaffar & Ryleigh Ho

Aleeza and Ryleigh drew a tough first-round opponent, but delivered an inspiring performance filled with hustle and determination. Aleeza covered the court like never before, while Ryleigh attacked the net with fearless energy, delivering punishing overheads and aggressive play. Though they didn't secure a win, they represented St. Mary’s with heart and hustle.
